Rosehip oil

As a power ingredient, Rosehip Oil for skincare has been around since ancient times and (as with many plant-based ingredients) is enjoying a resurgence in interest in recent years. With celebrities like Victoria’s Secret model and businesswoman Miranda Kerr giving it the thumbs up, it has cemented its place as one of the ‘oils du jour’ for the beauty industry right now.

Also known as Rosehip Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil is pressed from the fruit and seeds of the rose plant (that’s Rosa Canina to you Latin enthusiasts!) and is predominantly sourced from Chile. It’s packed full of skin-loving vitamins and essential fatty acids, as well as phenols with beneficial antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal qualities.

Our range of serums – Clarify, Renewal and CoQ10 – all boast Rosehip Oil as one of their key natural ingredients.

CoQ10

The antioxidant Coenzyme Q10 (known as CoQ10 or ubiquinone) is found in most living things, including humans. It’s used by our cells to process the energy our bodies need to power essential processes. It’s just one of 1300 different enzymes which keep the incredible machinery of our bodies running smoothly, but it’s becoming one of the most well known in the world of skincare, for good reason.

Studies have shown that CoQ10 neutralizes free radicals, the unstable atoms which can damage cells, causing illness and aging. By going around mopping these nasties up, it helps to slow down the process of ageing, both inside and out.

So far, so good, right? Right! But there’s a hitch…

Enzymes are produced by the mitochondria inside our cells. As we age, our mitochondria do too and they slow down, producing less CoQ10 and therefore less energy. In fact, it’s estimated our bodies produce as much as 10% less with every passing decade. External stress factors also reduce our production of this fat-soluble lipid as we age.

Avocado oil

We know avocado for its smooth, nourishing nutritional qualities, so it may come as a surprise that it is also incredibly good for your skin.

Avocado Oil is celebrated for its health benefits, and these benefits extend to the skin too. With a potent combination of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, this powerhouse of essential fatty acids, minerals and vitamins have numerous benefits for your skin.

It’s avocados beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E which provide its moisturising and protective qualities. Easily absorbed by the epidermis, our outermost skin layer, this roll call of benefits ensure your skin stays smooth, strong and elastic. Oleic acid promotes collagen production, and the metabolic energy process of the skin increases due to a decrease in free radicals and lipid peroxidation. This helps promote collagen production which results in the formation of new skin, assisting in the protection of skin against damage and ultraviolet rays.

Broccoli seed oil

Like many pure plant oils, Broccoli Seed Oil is packed full of potent natural goodness for your skin.

It’s one of our favourite ingredients here at Cannabella and an emerging powerhouse ingredient in anti-aging skincare thanks to its incredible line up of vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants.

Filled to the brim with beneficial components which slow the ageing process (think vitamins A, B, C, and K and essential fatty acids euric, oleic, linoleic and alpha-linoleic acids), Broccoli Seed Oil will help to make your skin look and feel rejuvenated, youthful and plump.

All those fatty acids make Broccoli Seed Oil a natural fit for cell rejuvenation, pain relief and barrier repair. It can also help to protect the skin from environmental stressors and may even protect the skin from UV radiation.

Broccoli Seed Oil is intensely hydrating and deeply moisturising. It nourishes, calms and soothes skin, making it an ideal choice to use on inflammatory conditions such as acne, eczema, and rosacea.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba Oil – pronounced ‘ho-ho-ba’ – sounds festive and fun, but it’s serious business. This highly effective yet gentle ingredient can be found in most skincare ranges, both natural and commercial. A true miracle ingredient, Jojoba Oil is less sticky and greasy than other oils, and is 100% vegan. For these reasons, it has gradually come to replace animal-derived ingredients (like whale oil and other animal fats) in many cosmetic and beauty products.

Jojoba Oil is highly compatible with the skin’s structure. It’s also not actually an oil at all but a one-of-a-kind liquid wax. This gives it the unique ability to penetrate the skin deeply, bringing with it a payload of vitamins (including A,D and E) plus omegas.

Jojoba Oil also contains a number of natural fatty acids, each with their own benefit – from boosting immunity to encouraging the growth of hair, skin and nails. It is deeply hydrating and protective, and suitable to all skin types. With all of these attributes, it should come as no surprise to learn that Jojoba is very in-demand, and considered an essential addition to any moisturizing and anti-ageing formula.
