CANNABELLA is an Australian natural skincare company which was founded in 2017 by us – Matt, Tim, and Michael Stiegler – three brothers from Australia’s sunny Gold Coast.

Following our mum’s cancer diagnosis, we witnessed the terrible side-effects of chemotherapy and began searching for something to alleviate one of the most common side-effects; parched and painful skin. We read widely and devised a health plan to assist Mum with healing but despite our best efforts, the chemotherapy continued to dry out and irritate her skin. Nothing seemed to help.

Eventually Matt began researching natural skincare alternatives. Inspiration came in the form of a number of YouTube videos which explored the magical healing properties of hemp. Matt decided to melt down his Mum’s skincare products and add hemp oil and natural botanical extracts, in the hope this would help alleviate the problem.

Mum immediately saw dramatic results in her skin, which began to heal, feeling soothed and supple again. Amazed by the results, Matt began to research the ingredients in her over-the-counter skincare products. He was shocked to learn that most of the products she was using contained numerous cancer-causing chemicals. He continued making her homemade skincare products as we watched her skin miraculously improve and heal.

Mum’s success with the homemade hemp skincare we created us to continue experimenting with hemp oil and other botanicals, to refine and perfect our products. Matt turned his spare bedroom into a lab, experimenting with different types of botanical extracts and hemp oil while taking skincare courses to further his knowledge.

As family and friends began to comment on how amazing our Mum’s skin looked, Matt also began using the products himself. People noticed the improvement in his own skin, and when they learned it was due to his own, handmade skin products, orders started rolling in. Friends and family members with chronic skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne began reporting astonishing results from using Matt’s products, and this inspired us to start CANNABELLA in 2018.
